ODBORNÁ VEŘEJNOST

Mgr. Michaela Chmelařová
Vrchní sestra dětského oddělení, FNKV, Praha
Autorka iniciativy Život v kufříku
Mgr. Lucie Miškóci
Independent psychologist

The project “Život v kufříku” (“Life in a Suitcase”) caught my attention mainly because it provides a basic package of memories for children right after their birth. It contains evidence about the existence and origin of children, who are sent to infant institutions or foster care. Memories from the suitcase can become the main foundation base of the child´s identity, especially when the documentation about his/her life is still maintained and its continuity goes undisturbed. The suitcase features a message: “You are important to us, so much that we have prepared these things for you.” It can give feelings of security, safety and solidarity, which belong to the basic need of every human being. I very much support this project and applaud its authors for the great idea and its accomplishment.
